ORTHOPEDIC PROCEDURES PERFORMED
Dr. Crowe and team completing a fracture luxation of the neck of the femur in a dog that had been struck by a car a few days before. The surgery was done under general and epidural anesthesia with continous Doppler blood flow monitoring and anesthesia ventilator support (seen in the background to the left of the patient). Dr. Crowe uses compressed nitrogen which he brings with him to power the pin driver he is using to place multiple divergent pins to secure the reduced fracture. Because of his additional experience directing anesthesia services at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital from 1980-1991 and also being board certified in veterinary emergency and critical care, Dr. Crowe is often called for surgery in seriously injured or ill patients to also provide the necessary anesthesia guidance that require emergency procedures.
